TC Life Safety is proud to be a member of the following organizations.
Automatic Fire Alarm Assocation, New England (AFAA)
The Automatic Fire Alarm Association was formed in 1953 and is the only national trade association exclusively dedicated to representing the automatic fire detection and fire alarm systems industry. The membership is made up of all segments of industry (manufacturer's, distributors, state and regional associations, users, AHJs, engineers, and others).
The Association is committed to influencing codes and standards at all levels to make buildings safer through the proper application of automatic fire detection and fire alarm systems. Over the last four years significant time and energy has been spent on insuring that the ICC (International Code Council) and the International Building, Fire and Residential Codes scheduled for publication in the year 2000 require fire alarm and automatic detection systems for life safety and proper protection. Members also participate in the promulgation of NFPA 101, the Life Safety Code and NFPA 72, the National Fire Alarm Code.

International Code Council
The International Code Council (ICC) is a membership association dedicated to building safety and fire prevention. ICC develops the codes and standards used to construct residential and commercial buildings, including homes and schools.
The International Codes, or I-Codes, published by ICC, provide minimum safeguards for people at home, at school and in the workplace. The I-Codes are a complete set of comprehensive, coordinated building safety and fire prevention codes. Building codes benefit public safety and support the industry’s need for one set of codes without regional limitations.
Fifty states and the District of Columbia have adopted the I-Codes at the state or jurisdictional level. Federal agencies including the Architect of the Capitol, General Services Administration, National Park Service, Department of State, U.S. Forest Service and the Veterans Administration also enforce the I-Codes. The Department of Defense references the International Building Code for constructing military facilities, including those that house U.S. troops, domestically and abroad. Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands enforce one or more of the I-Codes.

IMSA - International Municipal Signal Association of New England
IMSA is the oldest known association of its kind in the world. It dates back to October 1896, when a group of municipal signal men from several east coast cities met in Brooklyn, New York and organized an association called the "International Association of Fire and Police Telegraph Superintendents." Records indicate that the group met once a year thereafter and that committees were appointed which developed and submitted technical papers on pertinent subjects at these annual meetings.
The basic purpose of the organization was to keep its members and others in the profession, up-to-date on proper procedures of construction and maintenance of signal systems and informed on new products and equipment developments.
In 1900 the organization changed its name to the "International Association of Municipal Electricians" (I.A.M.E.). This name remained for the next 35 years.
