Gas detectors have become staple in many physical structures, including homes and commercial environments that use flammable solids [wood], liquids [oil, kerosene] or gas [LP, LNG] for cooking, heating, and water heating. Gas detectors operate by constantly sampling ambient air quality, and monitoring the environment’s gas levels. When the atmosphere has a disproportionately high level of a specific gas that surpasses the preset amount allowed by the device, the gas detector will either emit sounds or a flashing light to alert people to this danger. Different gas detectors are programmed to monitor specific gases. They are often stationary and mounted close to the source so a leak is readily identified. Changes in the concentration of gases are often not detectable by humans since many gases are odorless. Two of the most prevalent, odorless gases are CO [Carbon Monoxide], and methane. These are highly combustible compounds that have no odor in its natural state. Gas suppliers add a sulfuric concoction to give fuel gas the “rotten egg” smell that it is often associated with. Though it can be detected using one’s sense of smell, often that is not sufficient. A gas detector will alert a household that there is a dangerous leak even if everyone is asleep. One of the more lethal gases is carbon monoxide. It is completely odorless, poisonous, and lethal in fairly low concentrations [above 50 – 100 PPM]. For this reason, many people invest in gas detectors to ensure their safety.
We have a variety of gas detectors for a number of applications, both residential and commercial, at affordable prices to help ensure everyone’s safety.
