| Fire safety devices and systems are some of the most important features of any structure, whether in homes or at the office. A fire alarm system is a necessity for life safety. By monitoring the environment and noticing any changes potentially related to combustion, a fire alarm alerts the occupants of a building or home that there is an “unusual” condition, and all people need to evacuate.
Commercial, larger residential, medical, and industrial occupancies rely on a component called the fire alarm control panel. The purpose of this design is twofold: First, a system can summon emergency services, such as the Fire Department or Fire Brigade, and occupants, are immediately alerted to the presence of a fire. Additionally, the fire alarm control panel constantly monitors all devices and the system condition, including wires; plus it controls all information relayed to emergency services, and constantly supervises the integrity of the system. Control Panels are required in most commercial buildings and larger structures.
Fire safety products serve two primary purposes: They protect life, and they protect property. Audible, visual, and other alarms give occupants an opportunity to escape before fire and\or toxic products of combustion become too intense for survival. This kind of warning dramatically decreases the risk of death or injury. A “working fire” [visible flame] approximately doubles in size every minute, so it is crucial that emergency responders, who are instrumental in preventing or reducing property damage be notified quickly; on a 24 X 7 X 365 basis.
The fire alarm control panel is the heart of process to provide instant notification to emergency services, regardless of whether there is someone in the structure or not. Even in the instance of a power failure, Fire Alarm Control Panels can alert Fire Departments, generally for at least 24 hours after initial AC power loss. An immediate response can allow the fire to be contained instead of running wild.
